Product Manager - Ecosystem Integration

  • Role located in Canberra – interstate locations will be considered
  • Anticipated start date 18/7/2022
  • Contract to 30/6/2023 with extension options
  • A BASELINE clearance is required or the ability to obtain one

Role Description

A Product Manager is required to lead and grow a team setting out the strategy and digital foundations to closer integrate the department’s regulatory systems with the existing and emerging technology in use by industry.

The main responsibilities of this role are:

    • To provide day-to-day leadership of the multi-disciplinary product team;
    • To ensure the strategy and products meet user needs;
    • To grow and iterate our strategy for ecosystem integration;
    • To represent the product team to digital and regulatory colleagues in the department;
    • To maintain good relationships with industry leaders in the agriculture ecosystem;
    • To focus the team on the highest priority work items over multiple sprints and quarters.

The Ecosystems Integration team is setting out the strategy and digital foundations to closer integrate the department’s regulatory systems with the existing and emerging technology in use by the industry. This includes:

    • Establishing the standards, patterns, and governance for our APIs;
    • Delivering a new platform for developers to register for and learn about our APIs;
    • Identifying and progressing high-value integration use cases with industry.

The team is currently distributed across Sydney and Canberra. Candidates are preferred in these locations but will also consider remote work arrangements. Some travel within Australia will be required.

Skills and Experience

You will have the following skills and experience:

    • A track record of delivering technology products in large organisations;
    • An understanding of what makes for a great developer experience for external users;
    • A strong technical knowledge of APIs and software integration patterns;
    • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams that follow agile and user-centred design practices;
    • The ability to write clearly, and explain technical concepts to non-technical people.

Other attrributes of high value include:

    • Knowledge, experience of, and relationships with the agriculture technology industry;
    • Delivery of technology to support regulatory decision-making processes;
    • Experience delivering to the Australian Government Digital Service Standard.
